Mount Major in Alton NH
Today we Hiked Mount Major in Alton New Hampshire. We started at the
parking lot early in the morning when the temperature was about 50
degrees. As we entered the trail we heard a bus load of kids screaming
and yelling as they pulled into the parking lot obviously on a field
trip. We stepped it up a bit to get out in front of the kids. We took
the Orange trail to the top. It was Steep and I've never climbed through
a boulder field like this one. What a work out! Saco Bounded through it
like he was back in Colarado. Arethusa wasn't far behind. I found it
hard to let them go off leash because it was so steep; I had to trust
them because it was safer for all of us.
We continued to the top and as we approached the summit we herd the
yelling and screaming kids. They obviously took the easier Blue trail
and beat us to the top. When we reached the top the temperature had
risen to a hot 68 degrees. I guess the
L.L. Bean Flannel Shirt could go. The fog had lifted and the views
were awesome. Check out our Photos to the right!
