2008 Milestone for Victors Chinooks
When the New Year rings it Victors Chinooks will have reached a
milestone. We will celebrate 25 years! During the winter of 1983 Stan
Victor received Alder Patch Myah from Kathy Adams, the caretaker at
Sukee kennels who along with the Wollperts and Peter Abrahams rescued
the breed. Myah was a first generation Chinook from the rescue, her sire
and dam were both Perry Greene Chinooks. My Uncle, Stan Victor and
myself then bred 3 litters after receiving North Star Pago from Bobi
Martin. I believe that we may be the only kennel who has continuously /
still breeding a line from the original rescue? Of course, all Chinooks
come from the original 11. Our dams went on to help found such kennels
as Northdown, Winterset and Mountain Laurel Chinooks in the mid 1980's.
Many of you have Chinooks who are descenede from these breedings.
When Gray and his Chinooks were snowed in their training camp in Alaska
Stan Victor did not hesitate and personally financed the rescue of the
ill fated Iditarod team. Today Stan and I are fortunate to have my
daughter Jennifer Skoglund and her husband Jacob Moore who are just as
passionate about the breed as we are.
Best wishes to all of you for a happy and prosperous New Year.
